The industry has emerged in Victoria out of the range of strengths traditionally held by that State. The combination of information technology and education has meant that Victoria has had a flying start in supporting the industry. This has been helped by the active support of the Victorian government both in assisting individual businesses become established here in Victoria and in the creation of the industry Association.

Given the dynamic nature of the technologies associated with eLearning and the developing techniques and pedagogies associated with eLearning, it is not surprising that the industry consists of many small businesses with large corporations developing their own internal eLearning capacities.

The strategy adopted by the Association to develop the industry is therefore focussed on cultivating networking opportunities and exposing the different parts of the industry to others and so stimulating innovation and cooperation while projecting the strengths and capacity of the industry to the larger market. It is early days yet but the signs are encouraging with many potential users actively considering eLearning as a supplement to their traditional training programs.
