iPhone game wins 2011 eLearning Excellence Award

The 2011 eLearning Excellence Awards were tonight announced, with an iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad Application winning the award for the Kindergarten to Year 12 category.

The Hon. Martin Dixon, Minister for Education, presented the award to Delphian eLearning for their App-titude initiative, which features entertaining, high-quality and educational games for students from kindergarten to year 12.

The games are created by eLearning specialists, and are specifically designed to meet the Australian curriculum.

Students are also able to log their scores on an online assessment system that allows teachers to track students' progression and improvement through the games.

Delphian eLearning also won the President's Award, awarded by the President of the eLearning Industry Association, Simon Hann, for significant contribution to the eLearning industry.

Winners of the seven categories were announced tonight at a gala dinner, and include:

Jobseeker wellbeing a priority for eLearning Excellence Awards finalist

An online course that provides jobseekers with emotional wellbeing strategies is one of the finalists vying for the 2011 eLearning Excellence Awards.

Omni Asia Pacific submitted their YouCanWork: Feeling Good course, designed to provide jobseekers with tools to deal effectively with emotional wellbeing issues.

The course was designed for Jobfind, one of Australia's leading providers of employment service.

   

Local electronic learning initiative takes environmental sustainability education global

An electronic learning initiative that brings environmental sustainability education to schools is just one of the entries vying for the 2011 eLearning Excellence Award.

Bright Future Sustainable Living Inc. submitted their elearning initiative, Bright Future Portal, which was designed to educate kindergarten to year 10, teachers, and school staff about environmental sustainability in a positive way.

The initiative, submitted under the category of eLearning System in the eLearning Excellence Awards, was created out of Bright Future Sustainable Living Director, Tomas Molloy's passion for the environment and for making a real difference.

   

Victoria leads the way with electronic learning initiatives

Victoria is leading the way with electronic learning initiatives with the finalists of this year's eLearning Excellence Awards all Victorian based entries.

Finalist entries addressed some of the most pressing issues in society today, such as environmental sustainability education and jobseeker wellbeing.

Omni Asia Pacific, a Melbourne based company, submitted their YouCanWork: Feeling Good initiative, which was designed to provide jobseekers with coping strategies during times of stress and unemployment, to promote emotional wellbeing.

Bright Future Sustainable Living submitted their elearning project Bright Future Portal, which was created to bring environmental sustainability education into classrooms for kindergarten to year 10.

   

eLearning and the Arts

Several members have expressed the desire for us to set up a "Special Interest Group" exploring developing the eLearning and the Arts space. The aim for such a group would be to explore opportunities, encourage members to combine their strengths and so tackle new markets and to raise the profile of both eLearning and Arts learning especially with innovative projects.
