Jobseeker wellbeing a priority for eLearning Excellence Awards finalist
Media Release - Tuesday 25 October, 2011
An online course that provides jobseekers with emotional wellbeing strategies is one of the finalists vying for the 2011 eLearning Excellence Awards.
Omni Asia Pacific submitted their YouCanWork: Feeling Good course, designed to provide jobseekers with tools to deal effectively with emotional wellbeing issues.
The course was designed for Jobfind, one of Australia's leading providers of employment service.
Gina Paolino, Courseware Solutions Manager at Omni Asia Pacific, says that Jobfind approached them with the need for a program that empowers jobseekers to cope with the challenges created by mental health issues.
"Jobfind identified a need for an innovative way of addressing this problem and approached Omni AP to create it for them," says Ms Paolino.
The course is completed online at Jobfind centers throughout Australia. "Jobfind consultants will identify whether or not a client would benefit from the You Can Work: Feeling Good course, depending on their current needs or situation," says Ms Paolino.
The course has been designed for a vast audience and takes an engaging, conversational approach that encourages the learner to explore a range of coping strategies that deal with emotional wellbeing.
"The YouCanWork: Feeling Good course is one of a number of courses being developed by Omni that address the barriers that people face when jobseeking," says Ms Paolino.
The course has been submitted to the 2011 eLearning Excellence Awards under the Lifelong Learning Category.
"Our focus at Omni is on innovative learning solutions that create a real difference in learners' lives," says Ms Paolino.
Now in its fourth year, the awards are organised by the eLearning Industry Association of Victoria, whose aim is to position Victoria at the forefront of elearning initiatives in Australia.
The eLearning Excellence Awards recognises excellence and achievement in elearning projects; projects that use technology to help people learn anytime and anywhere.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on November 10th at Leonda by the Yarra, where the Hon. Martin Dixon, Minister for Education, will present the award for the Kindergarten to Year 12 category.
